Passive Infrared Sensor

A bit delayed post. :D Apologies...

Recently I received a few boards and accessories which was ordered previously through Ali Express. Don't mind if I say that AliExpress is one of the best marketing services for small electronics components. So, one among the boards was a PIR Relay Module which costs around ₹180 for me. In my house, I and my brother are the laziest and we don't use to turn off the lights once we leave the room. I wished I could install the board to the existing switch so as to make the lights automatic.

Coming to the working principle of PIR Sensor, it usually consists of two special materials (Pyroelectric) which are sensitive to Infrared waves. When no change or motion occurs both the materials since the same amount of IR and stays idle. But as soon as there is a motion of a human or any changes which produces a difference in heat, the two material senses different variation. Consider it like this, when a person enters a room the first material gives the first output followed by the second material, and when he/she leaves the second materials gives the output first followed by the first material. When entered, gives a positive differential change, when left, gives a negative differential change. This is basically how a PIR Sensor works. Also, the module has got an Operational amplifier, a potentiometer for changing the sensitivity and a Fresnel lens for the material to sense the IR.

Now the run time, I undid the bulb wiring and installed the module as per the description in the module. For my amusement, the bulb turned on successfully the moment I entered the room. But sadly, the bulb doesn't turn off immediately. But after 36 seconds the thing turned off. For me, this was not an efficient way so I removed everything and reinstalled the bulb. There was no way to control the time delay for the module. I did some reverse engineering and found that changing a couple of resistors and capacitors would adjust the time delay, but it seems cumbersome. So I failed in this attempt but still found and studied something useful and hopefully serve you the same.

See You.

DiY- Mosquito Bat Repair

Hi, This one is a rather simple Do it Yourself project. Recently, I found one of the dead mosquito bats in my room. The funny part being, there are a few of them here. One can certainly find that this piece of High Voltage equipment is one of those Chinese brains, in a sense that they use lower quality batteries, hence a much lower price of around ₹150 to ₹200. This itself was the obvious reason why I could find a bunch of them in my house.                   The problem, as you might have guessed, is the dead battery in the bat after a month or twice of use.  As I was having my semester exams, I decided to repair the bat. :) The first thing I did was to open up the bat and undoing all the screws and collecting them aside. After which, on a close examination, I found that the battery used was of such cheap quality. I used my beloved multimeter and checked the voltage of the battery which showcased a voltage of 4.1v. I assum...

Solar Panel Cake Recipe.

Today, I'm going to present you a cookery show on 'How to make Solar Panel Cake'.                                            The ingredients we need for this cook is just handful of items. First, the main ingredient is Silicon or simply sand which you can find out in dessert, along with that you need some chemicals, some liquid metal, and a bit coloring. Ok! now we can start our mix, before that our silicon must be either cooked or baked to about 2000 degree Celcius to separate it from impurities and other rocks. Once the cooking is over, we can add our first set of chemicals which is mainly to increase the strength of silicon, which is now in a molten state. We need to stir these two mixes at a constant temperature for about two days.  1st cooking for strengthening                         ...

Alternating Current v/s Direct Current

A rather simple topic! WHAT?        There are mainly two types of electricity in this world, namely Alternating Current (AC) & Direct Current (DC). But before that what is current? In theory, it's just a flow of electron, but in a practical scenario I've seen anything like that, what I felt is a torturing heat, and that's because of a higher CURRENT!. The supply we get in our house, industry, college almost everywhere is Alternating Current. Its produced from hydroelectric generators here, mainly. 'AC' man is seen as something like this when plotted in a graph. Mr. Alternating Current          Once again Mr. Faraday came into our context. According to his law  of electromagnetism predicts how a magnetic field will interact with an electric circuit to produce an electromotive force ( EMF). Consider a magnet with its south and north poles separated in space and when a coil rotates in between this poles...
